Welcome to the American Legion Post GR01
The Kaiserslautern American Legion Post GR01 has been serving the Kaiserslautern Military community since August 26,1953. This is our new website.
All meetings are held from 1830-1930 on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month (except when the meeting date falls on a German or American Holiday). We are located on R.O.B. Rhein Ordinance Barracks bldg. 368, just follow the signs.
During this past year, we hosted bi-annual dinners for injured troops returning from down range and the Department of France reception after the Memorial Day wreath ceremony at St. Avold, France. We participated in the Kindergrave Ceremony where we remembered and paid respect to 451 American children buried here in Kaiserslautern Germany. We also presented scholastic and excellence medals to the Kaiserslautern High School Junior ROTC students. Additionally, we sponsor an Oratorical Contest for the greater Kaiserslautern Military Community every year. This years Department Oratorical is over and the winner is Ruth Alvarez. She will be moving on to compete against the other State Department finalists, congratulations. This year we had a great turnout of contestants, five in total competed at the Department level coming from all over Europe. This years’ contestants were Avalon Roche from GR01 Kaiserslautern, Brianna Totty from GR03/GR79 Wiesbaden, Reiwan Hussein from GR1982 Ansbach, William Ritter from GR06 Stuttgart and Ruth Alvarez from BE02 Brussels. We encourage all students to come out and compete for the Oratorical each year. We will hold the Oratorical again at the end of the year, so if you are interested, please start studying the Constitution and prepare yourself for a great journey. It is well worth the rewards.
